Concrete Scanning
Concrete Scanning with GPR
Before a core hole or anchor, GPR maps rebar, post-tension cables, conduits and embedded services so drilling does not hit something expensive or dangerous.
Symptoms we're called for
- A core hole or opening is planned and as-builts are missing or suspect
- Post-tension or heavy reinforcement is suspected in the slab
- Anchors, hangers or penetrations need safe positions
- A previous drill hit something it should not have
Property types
- Slabs-on-grade, suspended slabs, decks and parkades
- Concrete walls and columns
- Industrial and warehouse floors
- Pool decks, balconies and terraces
Methods used
- Ground-penetrating radar scanning on a marked grid
- Depth estimates and target spacing for rebar and conduits
- Post-tension cable detection with caution marking
- Complementary cover-meter checks where reinforcement density matters
Limitations, stated plainly
- GPR does not see through metal ducts or dense mesh reliably
- Scan accuracy depends on concrete condition, moisture and finishes
- We mark and document; we do not cut, core or drill
What you receive
- Targets marked on the surface for the trades
- Annotated scans with estimated depths
- A written caution list for post-tension and services
Next steps
- Hand the marked plan to the coring or drilling contractor
- Respect post-tension caution zones without exception
- Re-scan if the layout or scope changes
